Askea V St. Patricks                            (1-14 to 15 points)

11th March 2012

Team: James Tobin, Brian Condron, Derry Nolan, Gerry Dooley, Darren Butler, Kevin Lynch, Shane Rohan, Paul Rooney, Paddy Tobin, Stephen Hogan, John Kenny, Jack Kennedy, Lorcan O’Toole, James O Connor, Tommy Byrne,  Conor Doyle for Lorcan O’Toole, Stevie Nolan for Shane Rohan, Collie Darcy for Gerry Dooley

Tullow started off their league campaign with a very positive first half but self destructed in the second half.  Great link play between the forwards led to points for Jack Kennedy, Tommy Byrne, Lorcan O’Toole.  Johnny Kavanagh was keeping Askea in touch with four points. In the 20th minute a surging run from Shane Rohan led to a point and insured St. Pats were in front at the break. Tullow were definitely the stronger team in the first half with Jack Kennedy the stand out player on the pitch.

Askea started the brighter in the 2nd half with points in the early minutes.  St. Pats gradually lost their shape with several changes and Askea gained the upper hand.  Askea clipped over some great points with the half forward line gaining alot of space.  A disappointing end to the match led to a St. Pats player been shown the line for irresponsible behaviour.  Best for St. Pats were Jack Kennedy and Darren Butler with Johnny Kavanagh the stand out man for Askea.
