Div 3 Round 2 St Patricks 4-13 Leighlinbridge 0-10

The second round of the Div 3 league took place on Tuesday 7th April for St Patricks away to Leighlinbridge. The game was played in the heat and sunshine with a breeze blowing towards the dressing room end in favour of the Tullow side in the first half. Paul Shepard opened the scoring with a goal for the visitors after 3 minutes and this set St Pats on their way to a 3-8 to 0-3 half time lead. Eoin O’Toole and Jack Kennedy got the other first half goals for Tullow while Leighlinbridge found the going tough against the wide. St Pats worked hard for each other and set up some lovely team scores with deep runners in the first half and some good link up play. Leighlinbridge battled harder in the second half as Anthony Keating’s men took the foot off the pedal slightly. The Tullow side won the second half by a single point with Allan O’Neill coming off the bench to score the fourth goal of the game. Jack Kennedy kicked some lovely scores from dead balls and from play, with Willie Doran getting the point of the game after grabbing a kick out and running half the pitch to slot over on 47 minutes. Jamie Ansboro had a great game with Stephen Nolan and Shane Farrell also putting in a good hour.
