The second round of the Div 3 league took place on Wednesday 8th April for St Patricks at home to Pal on a bright dry evening in Bro. Leo Park. The home side played towards the scoreboard end in the first half and fought well aided by the breeze. Pal opened the scoring with a point from Brian Rowan. Stephen Byrne opened the Pats account with a long range effort. Pats were awarded a penalty when Blain Cosgrove was hauled to the ground and Ben Hade calmly slotted the ball to the right corner. Pal’s Daragh Fitzpatrick drove forward with the ball very well throughout the game and was involved in the Pal goal just before the break which gave the visitors a half-time lead of 1-5 to Pats 1-3.

Pal dominated the second half was were on top with good performances from Sean Brennan at centre forward who scored 4 points and Fitzpatrick at centre back. Pal ran out easy winners on a score line of 2-16 to 1-5. Conor Reynolds also scored 4 points for Pal and had a great game at midfield. Richie O’Leary was very good at full back for the home side, Ben Hade played well in attack and scored one very good point with his left foot in the opening period. St Pats struggled to get numbers last week resulting in a walk over and struggled again tonight to get the team on the field. However, the new faces battled hard throughout and will only improve as the season goes on. Pats need to get more of the young players in the club involved in this team; Rory Jones was a ball of energy and aggression throughout.
