The seventh round of the Div 5 league took place for St Patricks on Wednesday 13th May away to Ballinabranna with ‘Sparks’ Murphy the man with the whistle tonight. Ballinabranna are top of the league having won all their games but at half time on a score of 2-2 to Ballinabranna’s 1-7, St Pats were well in the game. Rory Jones was fouled going through on goal and Paul Canavan converted the spot kick. Ben Hade also found the back of the net for the net for the second night running having bagged one in the Div 3 game in Rathvilly. Noel Goss and the returning Derry Nolan also hit first half points for the visitors. The second half looked promising for the visitors.

However, after the interval the home side were on top and three second half goals put the game beyond the Tullow men. Jones got a goal of his own for Pats after good work from the forward line while Goss slotted over another two points. Hade and Stephen Hogan completed the scoring for Pats in a game that slipped away from them. It was great to see both Derry Nolan and Peter Fitzgerald back playing tonight. But with such a turnover of players at each match it is hard for the team to be settled.

St Pats Junior Cs have three remaining games against Clonmore and Fighting Cocks (both away) and at home versus Kilbride. St Pats need to win all 3 of these to make the semi finals.

Pats Team: M. Doran, G. Maxwell, R. Caffery, Johnny Tobin, B. Cosgrove, A. Moran, D. Brady, P. Canavan(1.0), E. Doyle, S. Hogan(0.1), D. Nolan(0.1), B. Hade(1.1), P. Fitzgerald, N. Goss(0.3), R. Jones(1.0).
