FL Division 3 Rd 1: Fenagh 4-7 St Patricks 1-14

posted 29 Mar 2017, 00:43 by PRO St Pats,Tullow,Carlow

Played in Fenagh pitch on Tuesday 28/3/17 this game could have went either way. The Tullow lads opted to play with the win in the first half and scored 8 points, however the home side got 2 goals and led by 2-4 to 0-8 at the break.

The second half was dark with the Fenagh pitch having no lights it was amazing that the ref let the game go ahead. Fenagh got a goal at the start of the second half and this could have signalled the end for the Pats lads but they played some fine football (in the dark) for the next 20 minutes. Great support play and teamwork gave the Tullow lads the lead having outscored Fenagh 1-4 to 0-2 in this time, Robert Byrne pouncing in a goalmouth scramble to hit the hit. Fenagh hit back with a point to go level before Jack Kennedy hit his ninth point of the night to put our lads ahead again. Pats almost had a goal to secure victory, but the last attack of the game Fenagh worked the ball up the field, and found the net! For the last 15 minutes it was a lottery and the game really should have been called off but it was a good workout and we look forward to taking on Rathvilly next Tuesday in round 2.

Team; James Tobin, Conor Murphy, Allan O’Neill, Rob Gahan, Ross Hanley, Jamie Ansbro, Ronan Byrne, Stephen Nolan(0-1), Paddy Tobin, Jack Kennedy (0-9), Eoin O’Toole(0-1), Jamie Farrell(0-1), David Tobin (0-1), Owen Doyle (0-1), Padraig Murphy. Robert Byrne (1-0) for D. Tobin 45mins.
